It's a challenge for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

This is the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a side that has achieved everything.

The fact it required until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their hitters to maintain a record if never given the opportunity.

Finally, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to create her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her bow and seven global championships have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort is debatable.

Certain people claim the case for championship match pressure. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this hundred was far harder to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this performance came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in training, it was a disappointing period because it appeared my form was missing whatsoever," said Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts kick in and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

A single came off the opening delivery and from there the right-hander was in motion.

"A chance to play and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself that way, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was out Australia required another 66 at run per delivery - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm pleased we have the assurance to do that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we are confident we can achieve it."

These statements will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this tournament want to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this victory succeeding success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she wished she had played through the pain.

But while she afterwards confessed those injuries have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this tournament is likely to be her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as leader.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
