Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Soldiers Table

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within the city.

Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of characters who will separate from the central cast to begin their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table includes Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might seem out of place, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the team knows exactly where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, invading the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.

The antagonist then settled his debts and fled to a secure base in the remote area, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each member has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
  • Kattigan has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their status as important members in the influential clan could help the group enter areas they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the family.

This results in them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.

What’s Next?

From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Questers and Strategists groups.

Fans can expect finding out which characters will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
