Uche Sparks Dominant Palace Victory at Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their maiden continental campaign, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Missing key players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a commanding win that virtually secures them a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further victory in their upcoming match against Finnish KuPS should be enough to seal straight passage to the last 16, especially following a previous setback against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Grasp the Moment

This occasion offered a chance for some of Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second start after arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a clinical goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, finding the net for the second game in succession.

The Shelbourne team that had concluded their domestic season were no match even for a largely rotated Palace outfit. The visitors were further weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg injuries.

Control Established from the Start

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A flowing move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the referee dismissed the protests.

Ex-Arsenal striker didn't need to wait long to find his goal, tapping home from close range after Uche's shot had struck the post.

Shelbourne were clinging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for two robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

Yeremy Pino Seals the Game

The match was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of comically weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring with his very first touch, only to see his shot blocked.

The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also missed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still room for improvement in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, capping an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
